Mission
Ripples of Improvement.com’s Mission Statement
Making a difference with personal responsibility.
This Blog operates on the following values:
- Every individual is worthy of respect. Even if I do not agree with their point of view, I will still treat them with respect.
- I will do my best to make my posts applicable to an international community. When something applies only to an American, I will do my best to note this.
- I will freely admit the limitations of my knowledge. I can’t know everything, and I will not pretend that I am anything other than a liberal, white, female, middle class, American.
- I will present, to the best of my ability, a balanced view of both sides of an issue before taking my stance on one side or the other.
- I will never use profanity, nor will I post anything sexually explicit.
- I will not shy away from giving honest, if depressing statistics. Sometimes the world is a sad place and a little knowledge can be a great motivator.
- I will not write posts or reply to comments when emotionally out of balance.
My overall philosophy:
I believe all life is valuable. I believe all life is a spiritual being having a physical experience. I believe that humanity is just a part of the larger tapestry of life on earth. In some instances, we have wrecked havoc on other life on this planet. In other instances, we have made significant strides to live in harmony with that life. I believe it is up to each individual to be responsible for themselves and their place in the world. Unfortunately, when faced with the enormity of the planet as a whole and the entirety of life upon it, it is very easy for a single individual to be overwhelmed with this responsibility. However, every single individual can do their part to fit in harmonically with every other individual, whether human or other life. And I believe that this can often be achieved in easy, and in many cases inexpensive, ways that can make a measurable difference. Each person throws their own actions into the metaphorical water of life, resulting in ripples that spread out in all directions. Those ripples can be like calm waves upon a shore or like tsunamis upon a city. This blog is my pebble throw into life, leaving Ripples of Improvement.
