About Cathy
Hello! My name is Cathy Crovis and I’m the one responsible for Ripples of Improvement. You can read more about why I’ve started this blog specifically on About Ripples of Improvement.com, but that only tells you a little about me personally.

Me and my husband John at
Dolphin Quest Bermuda, Sept. 2006
I’m 32 and live in Maryland in the United States. I’m married to John. We have no human children yet, but we do have a talkative and social cat. We also spend lots of time with our almost 6 year old niece, who gives us a unique perspective on the world at times.
I’m a proud owner of BA in Biology. I like to think of myself as a study in opposites: one of my favorite singers is Garth Brooks; the only radio I consistently listen to is country; I wear cowboy boots to work on occasion; my next vehicle will probably be a truck; I’m learning to shoot various firearms; and I would like to improve my pool playing skills.
Yet, on the other hand: I love Rammstein and Rob Zombie (I’m pretty sure you can’t get farther away from country than with them); I have two tattoos and several piercings; I read a romance novel about once a year at most; and at the movies I’ll usually choose action over romantic comedy. My favorite TV shows are all over the map: Star Trek: Voyager, World Poker Tour, Mission Organization, and Iron Chef America.
I’m a liberal and very much so at that; liberal is not a dirty word. I believe that everyone has value and is just as deserving of the good things in life as anyone else. I like to help others, yet at the same time, I like my privacy and quiet time.
In addition to the things I know about myself (the above list being only a snapshot of course), there are things I discover about myself almost daily. I’m sure I’m not alone in this respect, as anyone who has undertaken even a small self improvement project can attest to.
Throughout my life I’ve made deliberate efforts at self improvement: For as long as I can remember, I haven’t been at an ideal weight; I’ve used many diets in the past and then abandoned them for one reason or another; I’ve joined several gyms over the years and also abandoned them; I’ve even purchased exercise equipment that is currently ready to use but hasn’t been in several months.
I’ve also dealt with reoccurring depression since about Middle School, although it wasn’t properly diagnosed until 2003; I’ve been to therapy; been on several different medications; and met with several different doctors for treatment before.
All of these efforts taught me at least one lesson. However, it wasn’t until I started Solution Training, shortly after I got married in September 2006, that my life began to turn around in any kind of permanent way. I’ve previously discussed Solution Training in depth in Personal Transformation and The Solution Method, so I won’t go into the details of the method here.
I consider Solution Training to be the most significant self improvement effort I’ve undertaken to date. It has helped me to realize the main reason that I gave up on all the other methods: the same core set of negative beliefs about myself. While Solution Training has not been the only self improvement effort I’ve made since September 2006, it’s been the basis for everything that followed.
While this method has influenced so much of my life in the past 2 years, I’m no longer active in the training, although I’m still rocking the benefits from the experience. It showed me how many of the things I knew previously about self improvement all fit together. The momentum I started in training is still carrying my forward as well as helping me to find out new things about myself and my interactions with others.
Part of my personal mission statement is to teach others. Sharing what I’ve learned through my 32 years is a part of fulfilling that mission and living my life the way I’ve always dreamed of living it. If you are interested in a more detailed story of this effort to live the life of my dreams, please see my series The Story Of A Dream.
I hope you enjoy this blog as much as I enjoy writing it. Also, please feel free to drop me an e-mail through my contact form.
